University of Gorazde is a higher education center located in the eastern part of the federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This university is the educational center of the eastern Bosnia. This part of the country didn’t have a university or a higher education center of its own, before the establishment of Gorazde international university. Today, this university accepts students from Gorazde and surrounding nations and educates them with the latest methods of the day.

The university was established in 2014. It is one of the youngest universities in Bosnia and is in its way towards greatness. It is working on its infrastructure by planning a campus, designing curriculums and signing agreements with various companies and factories in Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries in the region.

The word International has been added to the name of this university to show the vision of it, which is being one of the best international universities by enrolling international students. The university has aimed at enrolling many Turkish and Indian students and has takes different steps for doing that.

This university is located in Gorazde, a city in southeaster Bosnia and Herzegovina. Gorazde is one of the developing towns in the country and has an increasing population. Today, there are 21000 people living there. The university consist of 4 faculties. About 40 professors and researchers have been employed by the university among the most notable scientists of the nation. The university has about 100 students today.

The university has agreed on the principles of Bologna agreement offers programs according to its principles. Hence, the university offers programs in 3 academic levels of Bachelor’s degree (Cycle 1), Master’s degree (Cycle 2) and PhD (Cycle 3).

Another action taken to strengthen the research background of the university is participating in several conferences annually. The university organized and held 2 conferences in the recent years too.

Student life

City of Gorazde is one of the main financial and cultural hubs of southern Bosnia and Herzegovina. This city is home to several companies and factories and offers great opportunities for students who live there. They can benefit from the job opportunities and internships available at some of these companies and learn practical methods of their respective fields.

The city is created along the Drina river, which is one of the most important rivers in Bosnia, supplying the domestic use and agriculture of the eastern part of the country. There are several cafés and restaurants located at this old, classic city. The city has great facilities for its inhabitants and students can easily use all the facilities of the city conveniently due to the small size of the city and closeness of different parts.

The university doesn’t have a campus of its own, but since 2022, it has been preparing to build a campus in the city of Gorazde. Hence, today there are no accommodation, dining or sportive facilities at the university of Gorazde. However, the university has several academic and research facilities in its educational buildings. There is a publishing center, and a fully equipped library with access to the database of Sarajevo library at this university.

University Ranking

University of Gorazde is one of the youngest higher education centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, hence it hasn’t been mentioned in many of international rankings. Since it doesn’t have a campus of its own and can not enroll many students, the university couldn’t have been ranked highly in any category. However, that shouldn’t deceive you to believe that Gorazde university is not a high-quality one. According to Unirank, it is the 37^th best university in the country and 12595^th best university in the world.  Edurank website has ranked them as the 20^th best university in Bosnia and Herzegovina and 11143^rd best higher education center in the whole world.

Faculty of Social sciences:

This faculty is one of the most popular faculties of the university and admits students in all 3 cycles according to Bologna agreement. The faculty consists of 5 departments and has its own research institute. Banking and Law are among the most popular programs attended by students.

Faculty of Health sciences:

This faculty is the largest and the most promising faculty of this university. It consists of 5 departments as well. The most popular programs are general medicine and dentistry. The programs are offered in all 3 cycles and take 4 to 6 years to complete.

Faculty of Educational sciences:

This department aims at educating teachers and educators of the region. It consists of only 2 departments and offers courses in psychology and Turkish language.
